Researching your Australian Historical Figure

Now, you need to research your chosen historical figure. The following process will assist you to research accurately.

DEFINING

  • What do you already know about the topic?
  • What do you have to find out?
  • What are some keywords you might search for?

LOCATING

  • Search for information using the keywords.
  • Use the following resources (in this order):
    • Books - search the library catalogue
    • Online databases and encyclopaedias + General websites
    • Websites given to you by your teacher
  • Navigate using the tabs at the top of the page

SELECTING

  • Which information is the most useful to you?
  • Write notes to help answer your research questions.  Use the SQ3R format.
  • Record where you got the information from.

PROCESSING AND ORGANISING

  • Sort the information under headings.
  • Click the 'Using Images' to:
    • find images
    • learn more about using images legally and safely

CREATING AND SHARING 

  • Create your presentation.
  • Share your presentation with the relevant audience.

EVALUATING

  • Reflect on how your research project went.
  • What went well?
  • What would you do differently next time?
